Dear Friends,
Welcome to the release of the 2010 Hirsch Chardonnay and 2009 Hirsch Reserve Pinot Noir. These are two of the finest and most unique wines we have ever produced at Hirsch.
The 2009 Reserve is our top Pinot Noir bottling from this remarkable vintage, and the first ever Reserve produced at Hirsch. It is a selection from the very best vineyard blocks within the Hirsch Vineyard, nine discreet farming areas that have year after year produced the most expressive, concentrated, and site-specific wines. The 2009 Reserve is a compact, explosive and structured wine, held in check by an old-world refinement and finesse. This wine is proof that power in pinot noir need not to come from ripeness, alcohol and extraction, but rather can be found in great vintages in the appropriate terroir.
The 2010 Chardonnay is the first Chardonnay at Hirsch made by our new winemaker Ross Cobb, who joined Hirsch in January 2010. A master of this grape from his time as the winemaker at our neighbor Flowers Winery, this is easily the best Chardonnay we have ever produced. It is restrained and elegant at 13.6% alcohol, yet intensely concentrated due to the extremely low yields in 2010. Only 280 cases were produced.
These wines are available by allocation until April 5 or sold out. If you wish to purchase more than your allocation, please use the wish list function on the allocation page. On April 6 we will grant wish list requests if available, and the wines will begin shipping on April 16. Please log in here to access your allocation.
We are very proud to share these wines with you, and I believe you will find them to be remarkable ambassadors of our site. Please email us or call if we can answer any questions you may have about the allocation process, or if you would just like to discuss the wines.
Best,
Jasmine
