Greetings,
There is one word that comes to mind when I think of our Family Blend: joy.
In 2008, I decided corporate life on the east coast was not for this California native, and found my calling by returning home to join the family business with my father, David, out here on the far Sonoma Coast. To commemorate our first year working together, we selected six outstanding barrels from the 2008 vintage to make a wine that my father described as “capturing the spirit of Bohan-Dillon, with heightened purity and complexity.” We named this project the Family Blend.
Now, sixteen years later and as our winemaker, I craft the Family Blend Estate Pinot Noir each year, and it is still one of the most joyful parts of my job. As I taste through the new vintage, a process that takes months, I mark the barrels that evoke the characteristics of the Family Blend: juicy but concentrated, easygoing yet with depth, yummy and complex. It includes some of our best vineyards (hello, Block 8!) and is only available winery direct.
To this day, it remains one of our favorite wines to drink as a family, especially around the holidays. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season ahead, and thank you for your support of our family winery.
