Our intention in making a rosé at Hirsch Vineyards is to capture the character of Hirsch Pinot Noir, in rosé form. Our Estate Rosé is a true Hirsch wine, and a different lens into our site. This is a vinous, savory and textural wine, with great depth and personality.
The winemaking process for the Rosé is very similar to how we make our Estate Chardonnay, and quite unusual for rosé. A long, natural fermentation in barrel is combined with extended lees aging and approximately 30% new oak. We age the wine another 10 months in bottle before release.
This is not your typical rose. We recommend opening it 30 minutes before drinking, and in some vintages, decanting. Serve cool but not cold.
